Injectable skin quality treatments are one of the fastest-growing areas of aesthetic practice. Patients often ask about "skin boosters" and "mesotherapy" interchangeably, but the two approaches differ in their products, mechanisms and protocols.
Skin boosters
Skin boosters typically use lightly cross-linked or non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, sometimes combined with other ingredients, placed in the superficial dermis. Their primary aim is improved hydration, elasticity and a smoother skin surface, rather than adding volume.
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy involves multiple micro-injections of a tailored formulation — which may contain vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants or hyaluronic acid — into the superficial layers of the skin. Protocols vary widely and are usually delivered as a course of treatments.
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotide-based products have become popular for skin quality and the delicate periorbital area. They are often discussed alongside skin boosters, and the evidence base continues to develop.
Choosing the right approach
- Match the product to the main concern: hydration, texture, laxity or tone.
- Set realistic expectations about the number of sessions and the time to visible results.
- Combine in-clinic treatments with a consistent home-care routine and daily sun protection.
Our Skin Boosters & Mesotherapy course covers product selection, injection techniques and protocol design, with supervised practice on models.
